CHICAGO - Indiana is hosting a series of free football camps called the "Indy Metro INvasion" throughout the day Wednesday.

The series, which could have a significant impact on Indiana recruiting in-state if it becomes a popular event, will take place at Brownsburgh High School, Carmel High School, Lawrence North High School and Westfield High School.

"Our administration is committed to us, and we've always tried to recruit our state hard," Indiana head coach Kevin Wilson said Tuesday. "And I listened last year to several coaches, and we talked about these camps and making the game better. We want to do these camps to make the game better, and we want to give coaches a chance."

Unlike some camps across the country, Wilson's INvasion camp won't include giveaways or come at a cost to campers. As long as the high school player shows up with a medical waiver and whatever other equipment they need, they'll be able to participate.

In that sense, Wilson's camp is a throwback of sorts to when schools would hold spring recruiting days. He held one in Fort Wayne last Sunday and said he expects Wednesday's to be a success, growing the game and helping talented players showcase themselves.

"I felt like it's a great deal," Wilson said. "We're doing five camps in our state for free. We're not giving them t-shirts. We're not giving them meals. We're not giving them anything, but I want to reach back to my state, my coaches, my guys, my state."
